Which one of Colombiaīs breeds to choose? This question must answer each person for himself according to his preferences and considering what is primary the horse intended for. The truth is that in Colombia all breeds are used for all purposses - long rides (e.g. endurance in Europe), to work with cattle, and so on.The competitions and shows are very popular in Colombia with highly emotional atmosphere. The vibrations of special sounding board and the responses of fiery horse are driving adrenalin up equally to the riders as to the visitors. The opinions and preferencies are different also in Colombia. Some authorities state that paso fino and trocha pura are more suited for plain terrain and long rides from sunrise to sunset, and trote y galope and trocha y galope are more suitable as working horses and sport horses more proper to hilly countryside. Others donīt agree to that opinion and even for working with cattle would not change paso fino for any other breed in the world.
Generally it is possible to say that the most evaluated is paso fino, followed by trocha pura, than trote y galope and the less prestige - for the time being - has trocha y galope.
In comparison with diagonal gaited breeds paso fino is in his gait quicker (reportedly up to  45 km/hour) than trote or trocha which has to start gallop in order to maintain the speed with paso fino. In full gallop naturally depends on each individual what speed is able to reach.
To complete the information it is necessary to say that trote y galope and trocha y galope are more impressive because of their bigger stature and slower and higher movement of their legs and both have a lot of ardent admirers.
